Jose Garces has been deemed "the king" of Tapas by many "fans" in Philadelphia and, although his home town may be Chicago, we have claimed him for our own! Who knew from Tapas before Amada opened in 2005? This sexy spot in Old City led a path for many great small plates restaurants to follow in its foot steps, changing the Philadelphia dining scene forever! There is no doubt that 4 years later it is still difficult to get a table, and that means large crowds that create a "loud," sometimes chaotic environment, but if you enjoy the "lively" scene it's really a great meal! Make reservations weeks in advance if you want to eat before 10PM on the weekend! If you do "score a table," do not miss the "to die for" crab stuffed peppers, "succulent" octopus, and if you are a fan of charcuteria (cured meats), the selection is worth trying.

Spanish
Introducing Tapas to Philadelphia via his sexy, "upscale-casual" space in Old City, Garces led a movement of "small plates" throughout the city. But small plates are not the only stand out at Amada. If you really want to "indulge," call ahead and order the whole suckling pig for your table ($32 per person with a 4 person minimum).
Tapas
If it's tapas your craving, there is a large menu full of "spectacular" options, or choose from one of the chef's tasting menus and let them surprise you. There are three options available and your server will pair wines for you, too!
Celebrity Chefs
Having become a local celebrity while building a reputation for culinary excellence here in Philadelphia, Jose Garces was elevated to a higher level as he defeated Bobby Flay on The Food Network's Iron Chef this past year. Now with multiple "monster" success hot spots in the city and a restaurant in his home town of Chicago, Jose Garces has reached national acclaim.
Delivery
Those within the delivery area of Amada are "some of the luckiest people in Philadelphia," cry those that crave the savory flavors of Jose Garces' "spectacular" tapas. Some of us have pizza and Chinese delivery, while those that are fortune enough to have the benefit of Amada's delivery, feast on the very best tapas in the city.
Small Plates
It's all about the Tapas at Amada. From the Charcuteria and Cheeses to the traditional Tapas, such as Clams and Chorizo, Spanish Octopus and Garlic Shrimp, you won't go wrong with any of amazing dishes at Amada.
Trendy
Five years and going strong, this "hot, hot, hot" tapas "stunner" in Old City remains the place to "score" a table. It is not an easy task. Reservations are easiest to get early in the evening and on week nights. Lunch is achievable, too. If you insist on "prime time," plan your trip weeks in advance.
